As part of the efforts of the Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen (SIERY) project, which is funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Yemen through the Yemen Aid organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Local Administration, the hand-over minutes of the water supply expansion project in some areas of Aden’s Khor Maksar Directorate (Al-Arish, Al-Qayyadiyan, and Al-Nasr Al-Qadeem neighborhoods) were signed yesterday morning, May 7, 2024.

Mr. Awas Al-Zuhri, Director General of Khor Maksar Directorate, praised the importance of the project in serving the Directorate and enhancing the role of the local authority in alleviating the suffering of citizens.

Furthermore, Engineer Mohammed Bakhbirah, Director General of the Water and Sanitation Corporation in Aden, emphasized the role of the project in enabling the corporation to continue its work and meet the needs of citizens in the water sector.

The project includes the establishment of a booster pumping station with the provision of all needed supplies, including pumps and generators, in addition to pumping lines and a network with a length of 2,750 meters. The project seeks to cover all neighborhoods that have no access to water. The project is expected to benefit more than 73,200 male and female citizens.
