The humanitarian efforts by Qatar Charity (QC) to assist flash flood victims in Yemen have been well-received by local authorities and beneficiaries alike. The recipients expressed their gratitude to the people of Qatar for their ongoing support, which has significantly helped ease their suffering during these challenging times.

Recently, Qatar Charity distributed 650 food packages and 650 shelter kits to affected families in Hays and Al-Khawkhah, two of the districts most severely affected by floods. This effort is part of Qatar Charity’s ongoing humanitarian campaign ‘Aid for Flood Victims’.

This campaign previously distributed 500 food packages and 500 shelter kits in Marib Governorate, targeting displaced persons camps affected by the floods.

The shelter kits include blankets, mattresses, mats, and kitchen utensils, while the food packages contain essential supplies sufficient for a month for the beneficiary families.

The Director of Hays District, Mutahar Qadhi, expressed his deep gratitude for the sincere efforts made by the benefactors from Qatar. He praised the effective role that Qatar Charity played in distributing food packages and shelter kits to the beneficiaries. He emphasized that the aid has significantly alleviated the suffering of the affected families. He also extended his appreciation to all the supporters and implementers from the Humanitarian Development Program, Qatar Charity’s local partner, who contributed to these remarkable charitable efforts.

In a related note, 70-year-old Fatima Taher, shared the pain she experienced after the floods washed away her home and all her belongings. She confirmed that the food package and shelter kit came at a time when she and her family were in desperate need of assistance, as they were without food or shelter. She expressed her gratitude to the people of Qatar for their support to those affected during these difficult times.

For her part, Salma Awad Jbeili described the hardship she faced after the floods destroyed her home and swept away her agricultural land. She noted that the assistance has restored hope to those affected during these critical times.

Qatar Charity seeks to distribute 3,500 food packages and 3,500 personal hygiene kits in the coming period. This will be followed by distributing an additional 1,100 food packages and 1,100 hygiene kits through another project supported by Start Fund. It also aims to renovate the Khalifa Health Center in the Al Marawi’ah district, which was damaged by floods.
