Project Masam has announced that its demining teams have removed 2,945 landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO), and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) so far in May 2024.
Project Masam’s Operations Room said in a statement that the teams removed 2,010 landmines, UXO, and IEDs during the second week of May 2024, including 11 anti-personnel mines, 19 anti-tank mines, and 1,980 UXO, bringing the total of items cleared in May to 2,945.
The project’s demining teams cleared 219,608 square metres of Yemeni land last week, bringing the total area cleared so far in May 2024 to 469,732 square metres, according to the statement.
Since the start of the project at the end of June 2018, Project Masam teams have cleared 56,446,479 square meters of Yemeni land.
