With funding from the European Union (EU) and Government of Sweden, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in cooperation with the local partner, the Life Makers Meeting Place Organization (LMMPO), paved 4,000 meters of Al-Gharbi Road in Al-Tawilah District, Al-Mahwit Governorate.
This project is part of the ERRY III Joint Programme, funded by the European Union (EU) and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Food Programme (WFP), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and the International Labor Organization (ILO). These joint efforts aim to boost livelihood opportunities, food security, and resilience in several governorates across Yemen.
The project was a community effort, involving local workers, including 40 women, who received cash-for-work and were trained in road maintenance.
The new road brought significant changes, connecting the community with basic services, reducing travel-related risks. The project also encouraged further investment in infrastructure and empowered the community, showcasing the strength of working together.
This initiative has been made possible through generous support from the European Union and the Government of Sweden, highlighting the impact of global cooperation in addressing local challenges.
