Marib, Yemen – The local authority in Marib Governorate launched the Humanitarian Response Plan for 2024-2025 on Tuesday, in the presence of representatives from international, regional, and UN organizations working in the humanitarian field.
This plan comes amidst a worsening humanitarian crisis in the governorate, considered the worst in Yemen, where many face the threat of death from starvation or disease.
Classified as Phase 4 under the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) for 2024, Marib’s plan provides a precise overview of the humanitarian situation using figures and percentages. It focuses on the needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs), who constitute the largest IDP population in Yemen. The plan identifies the needs of each essential humanitarian sector and presents an action plan to activate partnerships with humanitarian organizations and define their interventions.
The local authority emphasized its commitment to providing all facilities for humanitarian organizations to alleviate the suffering of the population. They stressed the need for continued international support to confront the escalating humanitarian crisis.
For his part, the representative of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in Marib, Saeed Musa, praised the Humanitarian Response Plan. He affirmed OCHA’s endeavor to integrate it with the UN’s humanitarian plan and to work more extensively in the coming days.
