Marib, Yemen – On Thursday, a strategic water tank project was inaugurated in Marib Governorate at a cost of $708,000, funded by the British organization Muslim Hands. The project aims to improve water supplies for over 1.2 million people including displaced persons and the local community.
The tank, with a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters, includes several main components: an underground concrete tank, a water pumping unit with a lifting capacity of up to 200 meters vertically, and a production capacity of 200 cubic meters per hour. Additionally, it includes the construction of a room for the pumping unit and paving an 82-meter long road to facilitate access to the tank.
During the Inauguration ceremony, a presentation on the project’s execution stages was given, with a detailed explanation of the commitment to specifications and quality according to the set plans. Praise was given for the humanitarian role of Muslim Hands in providing sustainable projects that contribute to recovery and development in the region.
Local officials emphasized the importance of this project in expanding the clean water network and improving water and sanitation services, pointing to the dire need for expanded humanitarian partnerships amidst the worsening humanitarian crisis.
For its part, Muslim Hands expressed appreciation for the cooperation and facilities provided by the local authorities, affirming that Marib is a priority in its programs due to the special circumstances the governorate is going through.
