Funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), a modern medical morgue was opened at Al-Jumhuriayah General Hospital in Aden last Wednesday.
The deputy head of the ICRC delegation said that the morgue dissects corpses according to the Red Cross protocol, which is approved by the Department of Modern Medicine, and that there is a team of forensic medicine inside the morgue.
The head of the hospital board, Dr. Mohammad Hassan Al-Saqqaf, emphasized the importance of having this morgue, which is a real addition and support for the hospital in particular and for the governorate in general. “This morgue will solve many problems, the most significant of which is the accumulation of corpses in Aden and the neighboring governorates,” he said.
The opening was attended by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for the Population Sector, Dr. Salem Al-Shabahi, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for the Primary Care Sector, Dr. Ali Al-Walidi, the Deputy Directors of Al-Jumhuriyah Hospital, Dr. Ahmed Belfakih and Dr. Othman Shuja’, the Director of the National Center for Human Medicine, Judge Saleh Bashafei, and the First Attorney General, Fawzi Ali Saif, the Director General of Political Security, Brigadier Qa’ed Mosa’ed, and many others.
