This initiative is part of the Strengthening Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen (SIERY) Project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Yemen through Yemen Aid, under the supervision of the Ministry of Local Administration.

The total number of beneficiaries from this project is 7,551 people, including students, teachers, and administrative staff. The total capacity of the systems in the targeted schools is 93,000 watts.

The project aims to create an encouraging educational environment that enhances the quality of education. Through sustainable and renewable electrical energy, the project  will provide sufficient lighting for all educational facilities during both morning and evening periods, in addition to fans to combat high temperatures which previously affected attendance rates and the health of students.

Furthermore, local authorities played a crucial role in this project by assessing needs, participating in coordination and follow-up, and providing the necessary information. Enhancing the capacities of local authorities through our joint efforts is the optimal solution for a brighter future. Empowering local authorities to continue their work and provide services effectively and sustainably is the primary goal of the SIERY project.
