In partnership with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the Care and Rehabilitation Fund for Persons with Disabilities in Aden Governorate organized a workshop to present the results of a study on knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding the social inclusion of children with disabilities.
The workshop was held under the patronage of the Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Dr. Mohammed Said Al-Zarouri, and was attended by experts from the Ministries of Education, Health, Public Media, Legal Affairs, Planning, and relevant authorities. Its aim was to improve social integration of individuals, particularly children with disabilities, in basic services, employment, and public participation.
Saleh Mahmoud, the Deputy Minister for Care at the Ministry of Social Affairs, emphasized the importance of the workshop in reviewing the study prepared by UNICEF and the Care Fund for Persons with Disabilities. The goal was to understand the social attitudes and practices related to persons with disabilities and to disseminate them to other governorates in the future.
Dr. Bilal Al-Kiswani, the Social Policies Director at UNICEF, stated that the study provides information to support effective planning, development, and implementation of strategies, policies, and other interventions related to children with disabilities.
During the opening session, Dr. Najwa Fadl, the Executive Director of the Care Fund for Persons with Disabilities, highlighted the fund’s activities and efforts in achieving the desired goals of caring for individuals with disabilities and working towards their natural integration into society.
