  • Emirates Red Crescent dispatches relief convoy to assist Cyclone Tej victims in Hadhramout

Khabar Khair (Only Good News)

Emirates Red Crescent Authority has swiftly responded to the devastating effects of torrential rains and flash floods that impacted multiple villages in Al-Raydah and Qusayar District of Hadhramout Governorate. As part of the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian efforts, a humanitarian and relief aid convoy has been dispatched to provide much-needed support and assistance to affected families.
The first relief convoy, consisting of essential supplies, has been deployed to meet the urgent needs of the affected population. The distribution of 200 food baskets and 400 blankets has specifically targeted 1,000 individuals from needy and affected families residing in the Al-Raydah area of Al-Raydah and Qusayar District, Hadhramout Governorate.
In the initial days following the disaster, the Emirates Red Crescent team conducted an extensive inspection visit to assess the conditions of affected citizens and evaluate the extent of their vulnerability resulting from Cyclone Tej-induced heavy rains and torrents.
Accompanying the relief convoy is the Authority’s mobile medical clinic, which offers primary healthcare services, psychological support, and health advice to displaced and affected families. A total of 74 medical cases, including 39 children, 11 men, and 24 women, have already been treated. Most common ailments include chest infections and muscle/joint pain, with necessary initial treatments being provided. The relief team will continue conducting field visits throughout the week, monitoring the conditions of citizens and delivering crucial relief aid to various affected areas within the district. This ongoing effort aims to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the recent calamity and restore stability to their lives.
