The United Nations (UN) has taken a new step to address the acute funding shortfall in Yemen by announcing a provision of $20 million for humanitarian response operations. This move comes in response to the reduction of relief programs caused by the lack of financial support.
A month ago, the World Food Program (WFP) made it known that they would be reducing food aid in Yemen, starting from the end of September. The decision was driven by a severe funding crisis that has affected the organization’s ability to carry out their humanitarian operations effectively. It is important to note that international reports indicate that approximately 19 million people across all Yemeni governorates are living below the poverty line.
