Last Wednesday, the United Nations (UN) called on donors to increase their humanitarian interventions to bridge the funding gap for the 2023 Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) stressed its need for further funding from donors and countries so that field teams can provide 4.600.000 people in Yemen with shelter, cash assistance, water, health, protection and other urgent services. It demanded that the Yemeni people not be forgotten. Simultaneously, it stressed that without funding, these communities on could lose life-saving assistance.

The UN indicated that 2023 is a critical year. Therefore, efforts must be combined to build a more peaceful and sustainable future in Yemen. It showed that humanitarian funding saves many lives. “Yemen can’t wait. Support humanitarian work in Yemen.”

International relief organizations are seeking to bridge the funding gap for the humanitarian response plan for 2023 in Yemen. The UN raised only $1.200.000.000 during the donors’ conference in Geneva last month, out of the $4.300.000.000 it aspired to raise. It is a disappointing figure for the UN and the humanitarian situation in Yemen.
