Sweden made a donation of $3.8 million to support human rights in Yemen, build national capacities, and support civil society organizations active in the promotion and protection of these rights.

In a tweet posted on Twitter, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCR) expressed its thanks and gratitude. “Thank you to Sweden for donating $ 3.8 million to our human rights work in Yemen,” said the UNHCR. It stressed that the support provided will contribute to strengthening the protection of human rights during conflict and insecurity situations.

The UNHCR in Yemen tries to support government institutions and civil society organizations working on issues related to transitional justice, the judicial sector, civil and political rights, women and children rights, the rights of marginalized groups and the right to development, and economic, social and cultural rights. It also monitors humanitarian cases and sensitive issues, submits reports on them, and calls for supporting them.
