The training program “Back-To-School Campaign” for education offices in Lahj was concluded last Thursday in Aden. It was funded by the European Union in Yemen and coordinated by the Ministries of Local Administration and Education and the Local Authority in Lahj Governorate.
The program implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in cooperation with Soul Development Organization, within the framework of Strengthening Local Governance and Institutional and Economic Resilience in Yemen (SIERY) for June-July 2022, includes raising participants awareness of the importance of Back-To-School campaigns, building their capacities for back-to-school readiness, assessing the needs of education departments in the districts, preparing and implementing a back-to-school campaign, and activating the participation of the local community in planning and financing the campaign.
Abdulaziz Al-Hashimi, the project coordinator for Soul Development Organization (Aden – Taiz – Lahij), explained that over the course of five days, the program targeted 100 male and female trainees from school principals and workers in education offices in five directorates (Al-Houta, Tibn, Yafa Labous, Al-Mudaraba, and Habeel Jabr). They were selected according to certain criteria that enhance the capabilities of the educational administrations in the districts on how to plan and implement appropriate and effective back-to-school campaigns, especially with the beginning of the new school year 2022-2023.
It is worth noting- according to Al-Hashemi- that the project includes various stages that will be implemented during the coming period by targeting the education sector in the targeted governorates.
