With the support of the World Bank and in cooperation with the Social Welfare Fund, UNICEF, and the Social Fund for Development completed the eleventh phase of the Unconditional Cash Transfer Program in Yemen by the end of last November.
Preliminary findings indicate that around 1,407,106 beneficiaries were able to receive and financial entitlements in all 333 districts in all governorates in Yemen.
more than 9 million women, men and children across the country benefited from the eleventh phase of the Unconditional cash transfer (UCT) program which is implemented by the UNICEF and the Social Fund for Development in Yemen and in cooperation with the Social Welfare Fund, and with the support of the World Bank.
In agreement with the authorities in Aden and Sana’a, the implementation of the activities under the unconditional cash transfer program is gradually being handed over from UNICEF to the Social Fund for Development, while UNICEF retains its oversight role.
During this transitional period, the Social Development Fund and the Social Welfare Fund are being strengthened to ensure full national ownership of this important social assistance program in the future.
For this last disbursement cycle, the Social Fund for Development led awareness-raising efforts for the beneficiaries, in coordination with the Social Welfare Fund, and operated the call center for the Unconditional Cash Transfer Program.
