  • Joint International Initiative to Enhance Reproductive Health in Rural Yemen

Source: United Nations Population Fund

In the context of efforts to improve reproductive health care in the most remote and impoverished areas of Yemen, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has partnered with the European Union, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the Government of Japan, and the Netherlands. This collaboration supports 763 midwives across various health facilities and establishes 50 home clinics.

This initiative aims to provide essential health services to women and children in areas where these services are nearly nonexistent. Through the training and deployment of midwives, this international partnership enables access to basic care for the most isolated Yemeni communities, contributing to reducing the rates of maternal and neonatal mortality.
