The Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY) has launched a project to enhance water security through renewable energy in Aden Governorate. The project will directly benefit at least 800,000 Yemenis living in the districts of Aden and about 1.5 million Yemenis in Aden Governorate indirectly. The project is a bilateral contribution from SDRPY and the Selah Development Foundation.
The project increases the quantities of drinking water pumped sustainably through the use of renewable energy, enhances the efficiency of water resource management in the field effectively, provides workers with solar energy maintenance and use skills, and contributes to improving the ability of the local water institution in Aden to meet the basic water needs of subscribers. It also supports essential and vital sectors in providing services in Aden Governorate.
The project improves the efficiency of the infrastructure of the productive water fields and contributes to reducing operating costs, in addition to reducing carbon emissions and providing job opportunities.
