A training workshop on training trainers in the field of seed production has concluded in Aden Governorate. The workshop was conducted by the General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension within the activities of the project to enhance food security in Yemen, funded by the World Bank.

The five-day workshop, which was attended by specialists from the offices of agriculture and irrigation in the governorates of Lahj, Al-Dhalea, Taiz, and Abyan, discussed a number of skills and knowledge related to seed production, community engagement methods, and preparing communities to establish seed banks.

The Chairman of General Authority for Agricultural Research and Extension, Dr. Abdullah Alwan, pointed out the importance of the workshop in providing participants with information and skills that will positively reflect on serving farmers and enhancing their capabilities and participatory potential.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Consultant in Yemen, Dr. Mohammed Salam, reviewed the outputs of the training workshop on how to engage local rural communities and educate them on the importance of establishing seed banks to improve the level of agricultural production and provide rural livelihoods for local communities.
