The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through its humanitarian arm, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief), has contributed to implementing numerous humanitarian projects and programs to support people with disabilities in Yemen who have been affected by the spread of landmines and remnants of war.
During the period from September 1st, 2023 to June 30th, 2024, KSrelief took the initiative to implement the sixth phase of the project to operate the Prosthetic Limbs and Rehabilitation Center in Aden. This project aims to restore hope to those injured by providing prosthetic limbs and physical rehabilitation to patients with mobility disabilities, regardless of the type of injury.
The Prosthetic Limbs and Rehabilitation Center in Aden received 2961 individuals during its sixth phase, who benefited from 7775 specialized health services. These services included the installation of 413 prosthetic and orthotic limbs, the maintenance of 450 prosthetic limbs, in addition to providing 6912 services in the physiotherapy department, including physical rehabilitation services for 2098 beneficiaries.
Within this framework, the Prosthetic Limbs Center in Aden has worked to localize and expand prosthetic and rehabilitation services to assist people with special needs and facilitate their reintegration into society, while enhancing the capabilities of workers in prosthetic centers and providing them with the latest medical and technical sciences and technologies in this field.
