The Statistical Training Center at the Central Statistical Organization in Aden governorate concluded a training course on statistics of the elderly and disability, supported by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
Over five days, 14 trainees from the staff of the Central Statistical Organization and related ministries received knowledge and information about disability, its root causes, and indicators, identifying models of disability support from the charity model to the human rights-based model and medical approach, as well as disability indicators and local, Arab, and international statistics.
Dr. Safaa Moati, the head of the Central Statistical Organization, emphasized that the course aimed to empower trainees to work on providing data and building indicators, which would contribute to the formulation of policies and programs by relevant authorities to accommodate the needs and requirements of people with disabilities and the elderly.
On his part, John Paul, the director of the UNFPA office in Aden, commended the activity of the Central Statistical Organization in various fields, particularly in improving the quality of work and developing the skills and capabilities of its employees through organizing numerous training courses.
