A training course for X-Ray machine operators concluded in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, qualifying security personnel at Aden International Airport. The course was organized by the Cooperative Aviation Security Program of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and partners in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
The five-day course aimed to introduce 16 trainees to the ICAO, its establishment, its annexes, protocols, and circulars, and the entity responsible for implementing these annexes in member states, which are the civil aviation authorities. The course also covered the comparison and differentiation between the terms “safety” and “security,” as well as illegal acts, restricted and prohibited materials that X-ray machine operators must be familiar with.
The training course included a three-day practical application on X-ray machines using a simulation device considered the most advanced in the Middle East and the first of its kind in the Arab world. It also included identifying dangerous materials in new forms, methods, and techniques devised by perpetrators of illegal acts.
