The Yemeni Red Crescent branch in Marib Governorate launched, on Thursday, an emergency humanitarian aid distribution campaign for 300 displaced families affected by the heavy thunderstorms that hit the governorate last Sunday.
Faris Al-Aqeeli, Director of the Yemeni Red Crescent’s Marib branch, explained that the first phase of the aid targeted the affected families in the “Jaw Al-Naseem” camp, located north of Marib city.
Al-Aqeeli pointed out that the emergency aid included a food basket and a shelter kit for each targeted family, funded by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
He added that the Red Crescent Society will launch the second phase of food and shelter aid distribution in the coming days for displaced families in other affected camps.
Al-Aqeeli emphasized that this humanitarian intervention comes in response to the call made by the local authority in the governorate and the Executive Unit for the Relief of Displaced Persons affected by the rain, aiming to alleviate their suffering.
