The Geneva Call International Organization, with the support of the French Ministry of European and Foreign Affairs, organized an intensive awareness session on humanitarian standards in armed conflicts on Thursday, August 8, in Aden, with the participation of 35 individuals from various segments of society at the Three Tracks Organization headquarters.
The session, which is in partnership with civil society organizations, aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of international humanitarian law and human rights, providing them with the necessary knowledge to protect civilians during armed conflicts.
During the session, Ansam Salem Haidra, a member of the Friends of International Humanitarian Law Network, presented a comprehensive explanation of humanitarian standards, emphasizing the importance of their application, and provided an overview of international humanitarian law, public international law, and human rights law, highlighting the significance of their application during armed conflict and peacetime, along with the differences between them. She also reviewed the messages directed at civilians, which included 18 awareness messages that promote their protection as civilians, their rights, and the guidelines that should be followed.
