Mukalla, Yemen – Local authorities in Mukalla are now better equipped to respond to natural disasters, thanks to a joint effort by the EU and UNDP. The Public Works Office in Mukalla recently received crucial training and machinery through the Supporting Institutions for Economic Resilience in Yemen (SIERY) project.

The initiative aims to bolster the capacity of local authorities in Yemen to address the devastating impacts of natural disasters, particularly floods. The training and equipment provided will enable the Public Works Office to effectively clear flood debris and manage rainwater, ultimately mitigating the impact of future floods on the community.
