15 water projects were inaugurated and launched in Marib Governorate on Wednesday, at a total cost of more than 1.3 million US dollars, funded by UNICEF.

The projects were distributed between the directorates of Al-Madinah and Al-Wadi. The inauguration included the operation of 6 projects belonging to the Water and Sanitation Corporation and 3 projects belonging to the General Authority for Rural Water, at an estimated cost of 689,292 US dollars. It is expected that 299,670 beneficiaries from the displaced and the host community will benefit from them.

The projects included the construction of concrete water tanks, main pumping lines, liquefaction and distribution networks, service points, well drilling, and pumping, guarding, and control units and rooms.

The implementation of six other water projects has also begun in Al-Madinah directorate, funded by the USAID Bureau for Humanitarian Assistance through UNICEF, with a total amount of 628,412 US dollars.

During the inauguration, the importance of these sustainable projects in meeting the essential needs of the displaced and the host community in Marib was emphasized. Marib hosts more than 62% of the displaced people in Yemen, and its population has increased to 3 million. These projects are expected to contribute to improving the health of the population, boosting their immunity against diseases, and enhancing their environment.
